Hello, my name is Fairuz.

I'm a partner and director at Sheridans Accountants & Financial Planners in South Australia.
I'm an accountant and business mentor.

I love my job. I'm passionate about helping people become Financially Well Organised. In fact, I wrote SORTED, a book all about that, in 2022.

I'm a qualified accountant both CPA and CA.
What can I say? I love accounting.

Outside of work I'm passionate about archery. I competed in the Nationals in 2024 and I loved every minute of it. I didn't win a medal but I scored a PB so I'm very happy about that.

I'm orginally from Malaysia but Adelaide is now my home. I have two amazing children and a lovely wife.

The Speech Pathologists' Accountant Story

The Speech Pathologists' Accountant branched out from another niche group Accountant for Psychologists.

A couple of years ago some psychologists working in Allied Health Clinics referred their Speech Pathologist colleagues to me.

These Speech Pathologists were terrifc people - excellent practicioners - who felt that despite all their years of study in higher education they lacked knowledge in business and personal finance and hadn't been able to find accountants or bookkeepers who knew their industry.

After carefully researching the tax implications for Speech Pathologists, I found that there were many essential similarities with tax for Psychologists.

I was able to share practical tax, finance and bookkeeping knowledge with those Speech Pathologists to improve their business and personal finances to reach a position of strength and confidence.

At the time I was involved with some major projects . I wrote a book SORTED for Contractor Psychologists (Who knows I may yet write one for Speech Pathologists!) and worked on building up other areas of Sheridans Accountants & Financial Planners where I am a business partner.
Now it's timefor The Speech Pathologists' Accountant!

I hope you'll get in touch and book your free 90 minute meeting to discuss your business and personal finances. It's a great place to discuss your career possibilities too. If you're thinking of becoming a contractor or setting up your own business we can talk about the ins and outs of how to go about it and whether it's right for you.

In case you're interested, this is how Accountant for Psychologists came about:

I've had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of clients over the years from cafe owners to dentists, tradies to fishermen.

A turning point came in 2017, although I didn't realise it at first. A psychologist with a growing practice in Adelaide came to me for tax advice and we quickly formed an excellent working relationship.

The financial side of psychology had all sorts of interesting quirks and specific requirements which were challenging and interesting. We analysed her business and found how it could be improved and how best to manage the tax obligations. Since then, her business has gone from strength to strength and continues to grow.

Word spread, and soon, another psychologist was referred to me, and then another.

When that third psychologist signed on to be a client at Sheridans, I set myself the goal of becoming the very best accountant for psychologists that I could be.

I realized that there was a real need for clear and concise business information for psychologists and that's exactly what I aim to provide.
Each time a psychologist asks me a question, I take note of it and if I don't already know the answer, I research it so much, scouring my colleagues in accounting and financial planning, my business partner, as well as the Australian Tax Office, books, journals, and the internet.
You'll find a lot of what I've learned about psychologists on my website www.AccountantforPsychologists.com.au and in my book Sorted for Contractor Psychologists..
